Does anyone want my old DIY Aleph 30 Chassis? - Click HERE for Original Thread
mpmarino
Hey,

I've dismantled My a30. I have no plans for the chassis I built for it. It has adequate sinks for a heavily biased A30. Due to the design and shape it's pretty tight in there. The Brian GT OP boards line up perfectly with the alu clamping bar at the heatsinks. There is threaded rod in the center top to bottom/ it has an insulator to protect from a shorted turn. I'll include the cheapo RCA jacks, cheapo binding posts, power switch, fuse holder, and cord entry grommet. Free - you pay shipping via paypal. I'd like to keep it US - it's heavy and I HATE customs forms. Don't forget to shoot DIYaudio the money you thought you were gonna have to give me for it.

First US poster takes it. 3 pics coming.....

Taker here if I manage to be in the front of the queue ...

15 minutes... that's pretty good ;)
mpmarino
Awww, come on Fred, thanks to you the dang thing only lasted 15 minutes! No fun!

You, Fred, Sir, are the winner. Feel free to shoot me an email and we can work out the particulars....

edit: Fred - you are on the ball! I'll get back to you later - possibly tomorrow.

What I'd give for that thing...
mpmarino
Really?

I didn't really think that much of it....

Don't want to make this into an ebay auction. Maybe you can set an asking price instead of free. I will appreciate if you give me the 1st right to pass.

Thanks!!

Oh no... free is free! and a deal is a deal! I didn't want anything for it. still don't.

I guess I took it for granted that heatsinks etc are hard to come by - in other words, I was surprised anyone really wanted it.

no worries at all

I'll get back to you when I can weigh it.

Marc,

That's a very generous offer (and a very nice chassis)!

May I ask what has replaced the A30?

Cheers,
Dennis

Something to be said for the spirit of camaraderie and generosity amongst the audiophiles of the world transcending the very tools with which audio purity is achieved.

May your stocks be always full with what you need to complete your projects and may the Muses be always present in your listening rooms...

I am not entirely sure yet.

I am needing to biamp for a high efficiency HP horn/ LP 15". Rather than go the conventional seperate amp route. I am thinking of running a seperate PSU box.

Perhaps the amp chassis will be a Low pressure fan cooled unit pumped thru a dryer vent to the outdoors(not in winter tho!) - containing a KSA-50 and perhaps an F4.... just need to make some drastic changes...

Someone is gettin' awful nosy
:devilr:

I don'need no stinkin tubes
:devilr:

KSA is purrrfect for the application:)

I am not sure about the F4 on the Altec 902/511 ... I'm thinking the low gain of da F4 would be a nice advantage in this case - the low/high levels would be close right out of the box :xeye:

tweets??

Mr. Mod:devilr: , feel free to but in anytime:)

naah you know that I agree with everything ....but-

which variety arethose lousy altecs on top - 8 or 16E ?
in any case- it's better ,wiser, smarter , easier to make mini F4 (lowish voltage ,just one pair of outputs ,mebbe 540/9540- lookin' there for less input capacity) ,just because you don't need muscles there - as you need every ounce of finesse you can get

ZM sez
mpmarino
The crappy Altecs are 8.

good idea to bump the outputs down - Get rid of that wonderful capacitance. Maybe I'll take this over to the dreadful F4 Thread:dead: ;) .

pretty ingenious

Spasticteapot
Whoever gets that is likely getting rid of an inferior amplifier chassis.

Can I have it?
mpmarino
Spastic,

It's Fred's if he wants it. If for some reason he bows out - it's yours..
mpmarino
officially spoken for....
