Hi,

What do you guys think about this driver: http://www.spectrumaudio.de/breit/ciare/ciarePH250.html . Its FR certainly doesn't looks good but the price is ok and it seems that it foud its way to some projects: http://www.audiocostruzioni.com/a_d...rea/monovia.htm
Someone with direct experience? Maybe, how would it compare to some other fullrangers (Nirvana 10")? I'm thinking 35L vented box should do the job in smalish room.

Hi Martin,

you find an expensive seller! This speaker kost about 50 Euro in germany! :D http://www.idealo.de/preisvergleich...-250-ciare.html

I think, this one will be a good speaker for an open baffle!

In Germany we have a Hobby Builder paper, called "Hobby HiFi"

in No. 05/2006 are 2 planes for Boxes
in No. 03/2006 is an open baffle project with this speaker.

"HobbyHiFi" made their own messure on this speaker and it seems to be better, than many other new expensive speakers.

This one has a few details that are very usefull, for a good speaker:

light mebran
small magnet
high sensibility about 95dB

So, I think itīs a good reason to try this.

Why, do I not try this? I have a lot of vintage speaker... ;)
maybe later?

Cheers, Hatti

Hi Hatti,

Well the driver in your link is CH250 - it has smaller magnet, high Qt and is not suitable for vented box.. Ch250 seems pretty popular-lots of people use it, but almost nobody use PH250...

According to my simulations this driver should be good for cloning the Zu Druid, a speaker that is very popular in the US. Zu use a customized Eminence B102, the standard version has too high Qts.

The first mentioned shop is actually a very nice price shop.
Besides the owner is a very nice person to deal with.
Bough some Tangbands and Fostex from him.

I didnīt read much lately but the CH250 at least is a highly regarded (open baffle esp.) speaker. Wouldnīt use it for vented speakers though.

Oh dear!

Havenīt see this little different: PH - Ch !

I wonīt use this PH 250

A terrible frequence range and to low sensibilty!

The CH 250 works in a baffle as in a vented box, also!

Hi ElīOl nice to see you here!

Cheers, Hatti

Hi Everybody

Here in Italy the Ph 250 is common use for its good price. It's easy to use it also in closed box. Personally I'll use it for a with a passive speaker, when I'll have same time to spend in this project. In Ciare site (www.ciare.it )there is a project with dimension I leave you the pdf, check it a lot of people have great satisfaction and spend few money with this project.
