Hello,
I just finished my gainclone. It's my first electronics project altogether and it seems like it worked right from the start!
I have to say, though, I used a premade amplifier PCB and speaker protection circuit, which I both ordered from a Chinese website.
Most the other stuff is gutted from old electronics.
I got all the info I needed from this forum and the Decibel Dungeon website, so thanks to all of you, especially AndrewT for the countless mains bulb posts and ACD who helped me with the protection board hook up.
Here are the power supply specs:
300 VA transformer 20 V secondaries
2 standard bridge rectifiers
2x12000 uF Nicichon caps
Sounds pretty nice, although it's a little low on volume, which might be because I'm using the headphone out of my mp3 player to drive it right now.
If you see anything obvious I need to change please let me know! |

Congratulations on a successful first build :)
Before you cosider it done you may want to tidy up the wiring up a bit. |

I agree. I was actually planing on that. However, I find neat wiring much more difficult than I thought it would be.
I also seem to have so many wires going to my star grounds. Not sure if I can combine some of them. I don't have any hum right now. |

Good work! Its always nice to have something that you built yourself and even better to have somewhere to share that experience.
In tidying the wires some good old cable ties will go a long way. :D |
