I have tried (without success) to wire a Hammond transformer for a LM4780 power supply (Audiosector kit). I have followed the manufacturer's wiring instructions but every time I try the transformer overheats or the fuse blows up. If I understood well, both the primary and secondaries should be wired in paralel. I have attached a diagram.
HAMMOND 182P22
PRIMARY 2 x 117
VA 225
SECONDARY
2 x 22V @ 5.1 A |

No, only the primaries... thats if you are using 120 volt outlet. If you are using 240 outlet then u wire the primary in series. The secondaries u hook up to the PSU that comes with the kit. Normally they are marked as in... AC1, AC2 etc. |

... in other words.
U tie the black, brown wires from trans. to the hot wire 'black' in USA.
Then u tie the white, orange wires from trans to the nuetral 'white' in USA
This is then hooked up in parallel, the primary side. At this stage I would test the voltage at the secondaries. Make sure u have it right.
secondaries DO NOT get hooked together, they are separated to give u the V- and V+ DC through separate bridges.
someone else can explain it better, I am only learning myself!!! Have fun. Good thing on that fuse I suppose |
