| Does it result in the speakers not receiving any input signal? I've used caps before for a simple 6db high pass filter, but this time I've having a problem. I'm trying to determine whether it it the CD Receiver's internal amp or a wiring/capacitor related issue. Thanks for any help. |

An easy check is done by simply looking if there is a signal before the cap. It could be open circuit. DMM in AC mode if you don't have a scope.
They only capacitors that have a polarity are electrolytes. Putting them backwards on a supply rail results in a fairly fast complete destruction of the cap.
Don't try it without safety glasses.

depends on voltage ratings of the cap and voltage applied
the bigger the difference, the better the explosion
