Bringing Marantz PM55 up to SE spec - Click HERE for Original Thread
harrygrey382
Just got a PM55 for peanuts (£4), suposedly working, haven't fired it up yet.
I was kind of wanting an SE but couldn't say no for the money.
So, is there much difference between the standard and SE version. Either way, can I bring the standard up to spec with upgrading? I'm imagining box bracing, new caps, PSU upgrades maybe?
Also, what's its power rating?
Thanks

The difference between the regular and the SE version is that unnecessary parts (like tone-controls) are left behind and that better components are used. I don't know exactly which components.

Power output is the same as far as know.

Only PSU cap. On PM-40/SE is Elna for audio 8600uF in 40, and 10000uf in SE version. Rest is the same.
