Hi all.

I suppose that you got the schematic of CD950 yet, but if anyone interested service manual, so I have it.

BTW, I think about modification of the CD950, but still I spent all time on reading many posts on some forums. If anyone from you intend modifiy the CD Player?

I am very interested in disscus about it.

Hello JKoch,

Yes I am interested in the schematics for the CD950. The other post was for the CD930 and there are differences so I would like to have the exact ones for my CD Player if you can help!

I am not sure I am going to mod this player. I haven't seen many threads or posts on this exact model and I also need a lot more experience before I figure out how to mod it without any help and direction.

Also, I have to finish my RCD 965BX first!

Hi KP11520

My e-mail including the big file was returned by administrator. The Service Manual I bought from distributor of manuals and the file was protected in .pdf format so I can not edit it to copy partialy to send you. When I zipped this fiile I decrease it to 26,2MB. Please give me another e-mail if you have that.

Hi wckong
I just have received message from System Administrator that my email including the Service Manual CD950 "did not reach the following recipient: The recipient was unavailable to take delivery of the message".

JKoch,

I would be most grateful if you mail the cd950 schematic to: thebengs at singnet . com . sg

(I've modded 3-4 units of cd950; they're great -- they just keep sounding better the more you improve the power supplies and output sections. Having a schemativ would be even better.)

Thanks!

Hi MB,

What mods have you done? Which gave the best results? Can you give us the details (parts, procedures, etc.)?
This will be really helpful as there is not too much out there on DIY mods for the CD950 even though it has a DAC with huge potential and a decent transport! As you confirmed, it needs some mods to bring it to life!

Thanks!

Regards//Keith

I have CD940 (basically an SMD version of a 950) which I have stripped down to a transport, and I feed a seperate DAC and it sounds great.
I also have a fairly ropey CD950 which I have for spare parts.

They're great players.

If I was to mod my CD950 as standalone CDP, I would definitely fit a new clock module into the DAC, improve the power rail decoupling, feed each chip/module with its own individual regulator, put sockets in for the opamps so that they can be changed and different opamps tested.
Also, you could improve the acoustic damping by adding more deadening to the case work.

If you look on the ridiculously huge CD63 thread for inspiration, you'll probably be able to apply many of the mods done on the CD63 to the CD950.
