xbox vga

I plan on modding my output on my xbox to vga and i was wondering if the resolution from the lilliput 800x480 would be able to accept that output which would 480p probaly. I believe the res has to 640x480 or 720x480 in order to accept that signal am i correct. I really want to use the vga system with the xbox so if lilliput wont work could someone point me in the direction of a monitor that is around 7 inches that would accept 480p cause i dont want go with the 15inch route cause i am constantly movies (college).

sup crazyeyes ;

i just got my 7'' innovatek from montreal and after some intensive research, found out that both lillput and innovatek use the same lcd manufacturers (think it was from Sharp for their high res VGA input lcd models).

Innovatek recently came out w/ a new model that uses a Hitachi LCD and the unit has 2 more RCA inputs. Thats right, 2 more inputs than the lilliput.

But your concern is the xbox vga res. My freind also got the same lcd and he has the vga adapter. According to him, the diff btwn rca and vga is a world of difference on xbox. He has set the res on his xbox to be 480p and the lcd does an excellent job on displaying it.

IMO - both lilliput and innovatek should be good for xbox cas they both have the same physical dot resolution to support 480p. Best of luck w/ ur pj.

Here is a showoff pic (not vga tho - i still gotta get an adapter)

Its back together now and working .... wont strip it off again till i got my box made and everythign else ready.

480p is a 640x480 resolution at around 60-75Hz which will work perfectly with your Liliput if it has a good scaler that will scale the image to 800x480. I recomend using the product sold here: www.vdigi.com It is cheap and does a great job. One problem is that the image will most likely be stretched horizontally because your LCD scaler will stretch 640 pixels into 800 pixels...but to be truthful, maybe the liliput displays 640x480 with black lines on each side...either way, it will look pretty good.

innovatek panel

The model # is IN007VG - the only place you can find it is from mp3playerstore.com. This model replaces the IN700VG which is essentially the same but with less RCA inputs. Monz and I had two of these panels shipped to save on shipping charges - came out to $235 each w/tax included. I tried running the LCD with the X2VGA adapter. This LCD supports 480P but not 720P. The quality is really amazing and IMO one of the best LCD's for the price.

THanks for the info. Definitely made my day. YEah if you could let us know what the model number and where you got the innovatek that would be helpful.

in case u didnt notice, i posted the link to the mp3 store on post # 4. But I am glad you found it.

And as Faiz said, its a sweet mofo'ing lcd.

This beauty surpassed all my expectations. It has a fuse on the live (red) wire, has auto adjust to different resolution and the picture quality is brilliant. Def worth the money, esp. since faiz and I scoured the entire GTA (well ... almost) for a decent lcd.

We been to almost every electronics store we could imagin and it shocked us that we couldn’t find a decent lcd – even at $300. Best buy, Future shop, Pacific Mall, Active surplus, all those stupid little shops on Young (near Eatons) and more. In the end, we bought it from mp3storeplayer cas even w/ shipping and tax, it was still cheaper than buying a local sh**ty lcd. Probably the best local lcd I saw was in Canadian tire for $200+tax but it was a car dvd player and u can see its lower resolution and no vga. I know its strippable – cas someone else on this forum built his pj using that lcd… got good results.

X2vGA Pics

posted some pics here -> Pics

HOWEVER... my digi cam sucks. These pics neither do justice to RCA or VGA. Both of them look 100 times better on the lcd. The VGA is much more sharper and colours are richer. Text is not as crisp on RCA and the colours tend to be darker. However images are much sharper on the lcd than what is shown in the pics - keep that in mind.

I was wondering what the benefits of a light engine would be. I know for one it is the increased efficiency of the light. I was wondering if there are any others. Also if the bulb was contained inside this box wouldnt it heat up considerably. Because i was looking and almost duplicating I_eat_flowers design. Some more questions cause i looked into how to calculate the throw distance for the projected image and i couldnt figure out the focal length. I do not know what determines the focal length. I was looking at what a throw distance of only 10-11 feet would project and the need sized lense for that. Thanks

FFC issues?

Hey monz,

i just took apart my HP L1520 last night and ran into some ffc issues i didnt want to deal with, so now im looking for a new panel..

I figure that a 7" is probably a better way to go for me then the 15" and Ive been looking at your exact panel from mp3playerstore...

from the pics you posted, it looks like there's no problems with stripping the panel.. in the last pic specifically, it looks like there's only one ffc going from the hitachi board with the "B*TCH" screws, and i just wanted to make sure that there's no ffc isues before i order one...

thanks

I was on a french site's forum (allinbox's) - and one guy had pics of a stripped lillput.

http://forum.aspect-geek.net/index.php?showtopic=763

And guess what. The innovatek is exactly the same (even the daughter board is the same ... notice the same Hitachi board screwed in the same place).

THere are actually 2 ffc (just like the lillput). You dont see the 2nd one cas its beneath the bigger one.

IMO - the hardest part of stripping was getting those small screws off. My philps head #1 and #0 lost their edge. Once u get the screw off, u will see the ffcs are short but if shoud be fine if you screw the daughter board onto teh wall of ur box. Check out the link above.... u will see the lenght of the ffc.

On the other hand, one of the lilliput's cable is surrounded by the plastic cover and the guy breaks his cover to take it out (7th adn 8th pic on that link above). I am glad that the innovatek wires are not like that. They are easily detached.

As far as i am concerned this LCD is a clone of a lilliput so stripping is not a issue.

I should publish a pdf or a book after my pj is done. 😀
