Hi all,
Another lurker coming out of the woodwork. I'm trying to find the
pin out information for the TVT 3000. I've searched and can see that a few people on the forum have owned one so wondered if anyone could help.
It was bought from ebay for £44 delivered, but with no VGA cable. I've searched the web and found sn infocus supplier for the lead, but the cheapest I can find is about £40, the panel is starting to look like it was a little less good value than I had thought.
I'm rather out of date in that my plan is at the simple level of one long enclosure with the butchered contents of an OHP in it- but hoping for good results.
Also if anyone wants a copy of the users guide for this panel I have it in pdf format and can email it if required.
Thanks for any help you may have.

I'll post the schematic tommorow
I'll post the schematic tommorow
Thank you
Thank yo MSX-2 - That must be the best pin out diagram on the board! I greatly appreciate your efforts.
I'm going to have a go at making it myself first, but if it doesn't work out I might come back to you on your offer.
I can't attach the user guide to this post as the post page won't let me attach a pdf. Can you email me and i'll send it direct to you? Also does anyone know how I could upload the file to the forum?
I have another question that I hope someome might be able to answer, on the subject of OHPs. In the new thread where so many PJ designs are being posted several of them say that they will work with OHP parts from 250Watts - etc.. But in the forum a lot of people have said that 250 is not enough. Do you think that if a person was wanting only to project in a totally dark room that 250 watt halogen OHP (or its parts put into an enclosure) would be sufficient? or would I be wasting my time?
Also - should I have posted this in the other thread or is it alright here?
Anyway, hope the guide has something interesting in it for you.

Folks,
I need some help identifying a VGA mystery cable. I have recently acquired a TVT-3000 and it came with a power cable and VGA cable with split to monitor.
Upon firing the unit up, I get the Infocus image and can access the menu system OK. The only problem is that I get no video input from the laptop. I've tried two Toshiba laptops, cycling through the old 'Fn F5'. All to no avail.
Disheartened, I searched the forums to find this thread with a TVT-3000 pinout. I grabbed my multi-meter and came up with the following pinout:
It isn't even close to the pinout depicted by msx-2. Can anyone identify it? If not, I'll butcher it and rewire to msx-2's pinout.
Also, the 12v dc connector has a small three pin plug - not two as indicated by msx-2. What's with that?
Thanks for any feedback.
After I get this fiasco figured out, it'll be time to move onto acquiring the light engine and optics.
P.S. Anyone got the TVT-3000 manual in soft copy? I'd appreciate a copy.

Hi Guys, good to see that i'm not the only one with a tvt 3000!
I've had mine quite a while now and am really pleased with it, using in conjunction with a 250 halogen projector with a scratched singlet lens, and damaged fesnel, and a fs mirror in poor condition I still get a really good projection! I've been meaning to post some results, and others having the panel might just spark me into action.
The panel is good for budget users, and has good colours and copes exellently with the motion of films - no blurring at all so far.
Anyway. To the point, I have a copy of the user manual/guide - it doesn't say a lot but i'll post it to anyone who sends me an email (Its pdf so I can't attach it to the forum).
Re the cab;e. I didn't make one in the end due to chopping up a vga cable and finding it didn't have enough wires inside to follow MSX-2's diagram. Not being technically minded I gave up and managed to find an original infocus cable from Ebay for £20 delivered from the USA. 210-0014-05 is the part number, so you can check if you have the right one.
One thing I have noted about the panel receiving input from the computer though is that the panel has to be plugged in, turned on, and conected to the computer (vga cable) before the computer is turned on. I don't know why, but if I plug in the vga cable, or the power adapter after the computer is already running all I get is the infocus logo. So I'd give that a go as well. In my case I have to turn the computer on, set the screen size to 640x480, plug the panel in and power it up, and then re- start the computer.
Good luck, shout if I can do anything else.

While i'm here I thought I'd show my picture of the panel's inside.
At the top of the panel you can see the pcb which conects the lcd to the controller board, and hence the reason why no-one has been able to strip the panel down to fit into a neat little enclosure.
Edit - well I pressed "browse" to attach, and selected the file as I do to attach in an email, and it doesn't seem to have worked - will email to anyone interested, or can someone tell me where I went wrong?

JT,
Thanks for the info. I gave up on the cable that was supplied with my TVT3000 and made one up (msx-2's pinout) from a VGA extension cable. Works! *yay*
Now to get to work on the optics and light engine.
I sent you a PM with my email addy. If you could send the .pdf, that'd be great. Any other pix of you setup would be helpful as well.
Oh, and to include an image, I had to upload it to my web page and link it via the "http://" button. Guess you tried the "Attach File" and "Browse" functions?
Cheers.

Hi Guys,
Something must have gone wrong as I didn't receive anyone's emails.
Anyway, if you want the user guide, email me at jtrippier AThotmailDOTcom That'll fool those spam monkeys!

If this doesnt work connect pin 12 on the vga side to pin 25 on the panel side of the connector. I also have the connectors for the panel side if you are interested.
Help,
I have been unable to get the 26 pin male plug to make up a cable.
Does anyone have a spare that I can purchase from them?
I tried just pushing the pins on a cut down VGA cable into the 26pin socket but it did'nt work.

TVT3000 = "Smartview 3000"?
Thanks for the schematic - I live in the US and have an InFocus LCD panel called a "SmartView 3000."
I used one of these in 1994 - not the one I now own, unfortunately - and was VERY successful using it to throw a standard NTSC 525-line picture of several lecture speakers on about a 20-foot diagonal screen in an auditorium (accommodating an overflow audience from a much larger lecture hall in the same building.
The panel I now own was discarded by my son's high school because it didn't sell at an auction of the school's used property. I only have the panel - no cords, AC adapter, remote or docs.
Since I just want to shine bright light through it and watch TV and movies on really big screens and this unit has an RCA-type video jack in addition to the huge VGA jack, all I really need is some assurance that the TVT-3000 is close enough to the SmartView 3000 that when I jack in the 12-volt power, a detonation won't result.
Anyone know anything about this?
