EV Patrician IV--mahogany finish--serial #35100034

This is a complete & working survivor--a rare breed indeed. Unrestored, original finish (a little rough).

Those of you who know these know what they're worth.

I can send pictures to any serious buyer.

I will consider any reasonable offer.

You know, that cabinet idea- literally making it look like a cabinet, has some possibilities.

Alternatively, if you didn't want cloth panels in the door, and you want the drivers exposed for use, you could have 2 solid anel doors that open so they end up flat against the sides of the cabinet.

I'll tell ya, the WAF on this fridge/freezer sized thing is amazingly high, at least in my home. In fact, my wife was the one who suggested I move this beauty from the garage into the living room.

I have found (again, in my home at least-YMMV) that women don't seem to mind the size of your cabinets as long as you conform to the room aesthetic.

If only I was a master cabinetmaker, I think I could get my wife to love any speaker I built. But alas...

Hi Dave,

No, this Patrician predates the manufacture of the W30 driver. It is a fully horn-loaded 4-way.

Bass is essentially a Klipschorn scaled up 16 2/3% (Yeah, it's big!) and driven by an 18WK 18" woofer. I understand that Paul W. Klipsch actually designed it. I don't think I've ever heard tighter, more tuneful bass.

The midbass (200-600Hz) is housed within the mouth of a large plywood horn that occupies the upper quarter of the total height. It is driven by a really unique setup--two 828HF compression drivers set up to radiate both forward (without a horn lense) and backward into the horn throat through phenolic reentrant chambers.

The midrange driver is a T25A on a 6HD horn, all of which also sit within the Midbass horn mouth.

A T35 handles the treble.

This thing is one of the last survivors from late in the mono era when popular demand for high-fidelity performance fueled a manufacturer's arms race that resulted in some truly amazing equipment, in many ways unparalleled since, IMHO.
