A few months ago I built my first set of DIY speakers, the BAMTM (photo attached) from the Zaph Audio site, and let's just say I'm hooked on this hobby! The sound of these speakers far exceeded my expectations, especially given the relatively low cost of the drivers.
I also built a nice pair of stands (also photo attached), each filled with 100 lbs. of sand.
Since I am very new at this hobby, my skills, while excellent at woodworking (a longtime hobby), are minimal when it comes to the design/engineering/testing aspect.
My next project is to build a set of mini-monitors to be used as a desktop system while spending time at the computer. I plan on driving them with a NuForce Icon, which is a 12-watt class-D amplfier.
With that in mind, and given my above design/engineering limitations, I am looking for a proven mini-monitor design.
Your helpful suggestions and direction will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

For desktop use, the milli or microFonken (mFonken.µFonken). The CSS FR125 aperiodic would also fir your size needs but might not be efficient enuff.
For nearfiled use a 2-way may have trouble with driver integration.

Tons more power than the Nuforce and cheaper. More adjustments and the added savings of crossover components and design time. Use the icon mobile if you need a DAC or feed them from the analog audio out of the PC.
Did a pair for a friend using TB W5-704Ds and Vifa D27TGs in .5 cubic foot trans laminated poplar boxes tuned to 55hz and the results were stunning. I shoud've kept em for myself.
Did the Trans lam vertical instead of stacked, easier and looked fantastic. Didn't take any photos though....sorry.
