I have found this URLs about wide range about optical pick up for the aim of replacement:

Who can say me, which of them are wholesalers and which of them are manufacturers? Perhaps one of them are both. But nobody does offer exactly datasheets about the laser heads.

Additional it was helpful to know, which of them offer a high quality? In last time there are many clones of bad quality on the marked and none of my suppliers can say me the source of manufacturing respective a brand.
In earlier times (up to about 2003) there were always the authorized supplier for the cd player brands (eg Philips Sony). But curreltly cd players now no longer available, also original replacement parts, only clones. But not all clones must be bad. So much sercice centers need actually a Who's is Who, especially for service by old but expensive cd player devices
Thank you very much for your advices.

laser replacement

Hi

You don't say what cd player you have or the model number of the replacement part. I replaced a Marantz CD63 laser cdm12.01 with a part from Grandata.uk.

One still works but two others I bought are faulty and I am still trying to get them replaced.

I haven't problems by certain type. It is not about certain models from me. I make Service by a wide range of high quality cd player's. For several years I observe by cdm 12 optical pick up devices a very poor quality in some cases. Therefore I want to know in general, which manufacturer Philips are authorized, to build the CDM and VAM laser units according to the Philips specification. Only this is the reason for my question.
Here's another weblink:

but the same question: Wholesaler or Manufacturer?

Also the follow could be of interest:

Thanks for your advice. I think, this is the webaddress:
Grandata CD Picks Ups, CD Mechanisms, Supplier CD Pick Ups and Mechanisms, CD Laser Pick Ups and Parts
Please note, Grandata is the supplier-brand and not this one of the manufacturer. Please let me know, what is to see on the package of your new optical pick up - thank you very much. If there are no information, please ask Grandata about the manufacturer

The laser pickup was supplied in a white cardboard box with:

'VAM1202 ORIGINAL PART Made in Japan' printed on the package.

There was a sticker attached to it which also said: CDM12.1
Additional information included warning about electrostatic sensitive devices. Pics to follow.

You can be in this case reasonably certain that an orig. Sharp Hologram laser diode is inside, even if you read "Made in Malaysia", "Made in Singapore" or "Made in Taiwan" show". If you read "Made in China" which unfortunately is usually only a replica of the Sharp hologram Laser diode, that have poor quality.
Please note, there are one difference regarded VAM1201, VAM1202 and CDM12.1 - as I know: this is the magnet strong of the magnet, that is inside in the motor pulley (turntable). Optical pick up is the same by all this types.
I use optical pick ups of the CDM12.4, but this one I get currently unfortunately only with "Made in China"

tried to send pics but camera battery is dead - trying to recharge but having problems I may have to build a diy battery discharger to refresh the camera battery which is not holding charge anymore. I read of a discharger being built from a single wire wound ceramic resistor (7ohms) i think and a 6v light bulb???

I want to know those manufacturer, which can offer the highest reliability and lifetime of this laser head for CDM12.4. Very important is the fact, that is inside a top quality successor of Sharp's no longer available hologram laser, go to
