Hi from Munich, Germany,

I own a pair of Altec 604D loudspeakers (along with Altec N-1600-B). They are in good conditions and have been part of the equipment of a well-known recording studio in the 1960's. The speakers are built into two boxes of massive wood (42"x30"x25"), in fact too big (and too loud!) for our small living room.

As I'm not knowledgable about audio equipments, can anyone give me some idea of the aproximately value of these speakers? Anyone interested?

Thanks. Martin

Hi Martin,

Actually they're no good and can be hazardous if not handled properly. If you require assistance with this, please ship them to me immediately. I am trained in the proper methods of disposal and offer this as a free service to all diyAudio members upon small donation to the cause.

Nice score guy. Why does that only happen in my dreams?

If so I found them being sold here for $695 in like new condition with crossover.

Scroll down they are under "Classic Drivers"

Yes and that $695.00 US is for a single driver (including crossover in this case). That's $1200.00 US for a stereo pair. These go for pretty large money.

The green one shown in the pic is an early version with mounting flange screws that allow a recone without glue. The earlier ones may be worth more because of their collectibility factor, although I'd consider any Altec 604 'collectible'. 😉

Here I was trying to make a point and undercalculated my math. It was late. :xeye: Two of the example would be $1400.00 US, not $1200.00. Sorry for the faint hope. 😀
