Often some pretty sought after tubes in great working order can be found like that.
I know for a fact.
We hit lots of public estate auctions and I buy lots of old stuff like that. I got a couple old tube tape recorders loaded with like new 12ax & 12au7s mullards $1 Buck! not to mention reusable transformers.
Out in my area, old wurlitzer organs sell for 5-20 bucks at auction.
Those are my favorites! never less than 15 nice tubes, Tons of old caps , Speakers Ect.
My only problem with buying on Ebay,, Im Cheap,, so I always get out bid LOL
