Im new to the whole chip amp thing. can anyone suggest a circuit, or point me to where i can find a schematic for easy to build chip amp that will produce at least 30 watts @ 8 ohms clean???

A simple LM3875 based chip amp will provide between 30-50w into 8 ohms.

Ditto what Brian said, but depending on the bass you might like to add a lower noise opamp at the front end with a pot in between to get some more gain and decent noise performance, but it depends on the output level of your bass. Some of my passive basses with Barts put out a really low level, and at the opposite extreme, my modified Alembic will drive a standard Pro poweramp to full output from the bass itself.

You'll probably want to add a little tone control in there too. Just add it onto the opamp front end or before it.
