Coral Flat 8 - Open baffle

Hello!

I've just acquired a pair of Coral Flat 8 and was thinking putting them in an open baffle.

I did try to simulate both in Edge and Basta (tolvan.com) but I'm not sure on how i should interpret the results? I've read an pdf from Rudolf Finke called "Open Baffle Dipoles - How they work and how to use them well" which does not really seem to give the same result as my calculation in Basta/Edge. I'm certainly no expert in either Basta nor Edge but in my mind the work of Finke seems more resonable.

Aaaanyways. Long intro. Back to the Corals! My plans are to use them with a subwoofer (which I already own) with X-over at approx 100-150 Hz. This way i can make them more WAF. The simulations looked good with a 90x40 cm floor standing baffle. Here in lies the main problem of the simulations, they do not really seem to take in to account that the driver is a full range driver so I'm not sure if it actually is good? (and i don't have a mic so can't do measurements at this point). Any ideas?

Best regards!

Hi Dave

It's a woofer.

In the simulations the -5 dB point for the 40 cm wide baffle was about 150 Hz which i think wasn't to bad? How wide would you say it have to be?

I've been given this some thought and one idea I had was to give it wing which can be folded out to make a wider baffle for when in use.
