I’ve had great luck using a wood chisel that’s very sharp for cutting out tin up to 18ga
I just make sure it’s on a 6x6 or 4x4 piece of wood with a piece of leather under the metal I’m cutting
You can get all sizes of them from 1/4” up to 3” or more. You just start at a angle when hitting it with the 30oz or larger hammer
Unless your going to be making a item over and over I would go with what the post before me showed you
