I am about 50% complete in building a portable speaker to take camping. I have noticed some pretty good quality centre speakers going for very cheap, so this is the basis.
The specs are as follows:
-12x 18650 samsung batteries from NOS laptop battery packs, they are wired as a 4 series string each with 3 in parallel.
A- Welling centre speaker with 2x 5 1/4 drivers
a TA2024 amp board
A panel mount mp3 player with line in
NEW Remote Control USB SD FM RS MMC MP3 Audio Player Module DC5V 12V DIY | eBay
A 2.4ghz wireless audio link connected to the line in
A lipo charger module
Now there is another small box which houses the wireless auto TX. This contains 2x bluetooth modules, 2x line in and 3x usb ports for charging phones. It also has a mixer with separate headphone monitoring.
The idea is that you sit the speaker somewhere and have the small mixer around the circle of people. 2 phones can BT in and 2 phones etc can use the line in. People can have turns playing music.
I am wondering if anyone had any further ideas for a system like this?
I have swept the response and am also adding a sharp rolloff at 50hz and 3db boost at 90hz and also a LPF at 18kHZ so I am not wasting power amplifying frequencies which are below the enclosure characteristics.
Total cost... $40
With 97 watt/hours I am expecting 48 hours continuous at moderate volume.

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.
