How to pair Rega RP1 to TPA3116 amp?

It seems I'm getting my first turntable for my birthday next week. So I hear, it will be the basic Rega.
However, I never had a turntable (because I'm of the ipod generation), and would need some advice about how to get sound of "the big CD's"😛

My setup so far consists of a Volumio system with hiffiberry DAC, TPA3116D2 amp and a pair of speakers.
Now I far as I know, I need a phono stage or a preamplifier, being the same thing (?).
Which one should I get (or build, if it is simple enough) that is good enough and doesn't break the bank?
I'm a bit confused, as one can get them for really cheap on Amazon (<20€), and not quite as cheap on AE. Would expect it to be the other way around...

So, what to do?

Yes, you will need a phono pre-amp to suit MM cartridge.
There are some designs on DIY Hi-Fi Phonograph Projects - Turntables, RIAA Phono Preamplifiers
Or you could buy ready made.
Sorry I cannot advise which to get or how much to spend, you will need to research and make your own mind up. Please post your findings when you get turntable running.
I started re-plinthing my Project P1 but decided motor vibration was so high & arm not very good that I have decided to build my own turntable using only the platter. Hopefully your Rega will be much better!
