Help with DIY boombox (newbie)

Hi DIYaudio

I have returned from festival yesterday and got a lot of abandoned speakers home with from old JVC-boomboxes, an ION Block Blaster and div. homebuild.

I plan to start out with building a smaller boombox from 4x10W JVC full range speakers, 2x20W JVC bass speakers and 1x50W ION bass speaker. I might change the ION bass speaker to 1-3 JVC bass speakers.

I have never made any DIY audio before so I have no idea how to build the electronic part. I know I will need an amplifier and a battery. I all the electronics from 1 JVC-boombox and 1 ION Block Blaster if that is useful and else I am ready to buy what I will need.
I have a pretty compact YUASA NPH5-12 (12V,5Ah) battery from the ION Block Blaster, will be able to get a car battery if needed and else I am ready to buy what I need.

I am a real newbie with all the electronics so I would be thankful if someone would help me 🙂

If you already have a boombox, then you can retrieve parts or even the amplifier along with the pcb, by cutting away the unwananted circuit. For this, you will have to look for the power amp chip and download it's datasheet and continue from there...

Also read sound.westhost.com

This will be useful

the boominator uses 2 x tweeters and 4 x woofers instead of the double woofer ( one each channel ) and 2X (2) twe...er, fullrange 😱

About the amplifier, probably the one inside the boombox works ok
Or are you talking about some dvd integrated 5.1 amplifier ?!
If the requirements meet the desired XX dB gain with that XXvoltage supply, and being the potential defined by that provided by the battery.
And the battery needs to be enough powerful to supply the necessary current, specially during music peaks.
Those, are where the system asks for full power, being it electrical or acustical, the latter requires firstly an analysis of the drivers> why drivers?
Aren't they those things being called "loudspeakers" ?
Driver because...
There's a membrane that couples to the air mass, and it moves it 😱
