Difference between PA/home/car drivers

Since you're in the "subwoofers section",

Home subs - go low while sounding nice. Real SPL is rarely a concern.
Car subs - go low and loud in tiny boxes. Usually requires a lot of power.
PA subs - go very loud, survive not-inconsiderable abuse (see sreten's post above), and still be portable. Usually don't go particularly low.

All just different options in Hoffman's Iron Law.

Car drivers can work quite well in front-loaded horns for PA use, the box will be quite large if any real bass is to be developed (as with any fron'load horn).

PA drivers can make great home theater subs when used in a tapped horn type enclosure.
