CSS TRIO12, TL or BIB build?

I have recently become very interested in the CSS TRIO12 for subwoofer duty.

Initially, I looked at their front loaded horn kit , however this may be a bit too large a box.
While browsing thier download page , I noticed two CSS Trio12 designs by Scott Lindgren
...hence the reason for posting here. One of these designs is transmission line, the other a
BIB enclosure. I was wondering about similarities or differences in sound between them?
Are there strenghts or weaknesses to using one or the other in an 50% music, 50% home
theater environment?

Thanks in advance for all replies 🙂

Lets see it B chimes in with his infamous T-TQWT....The horn sub listed has an F3 of 16hz... Do you really need that? (comes at the expense of 92"x32x16.5)
For half HT half music Id say target a more reasonable 25hz corner. (low tuning for music, but not really low for HT, but size will be much more manageable.)

Comparing the BIB (~320L) if used as a sub with a corresponding T-TQWT (~160L):

Note: mRgSr's hunch is correct 😀 The size of a T-TQWT would be ~53% of the BIB = a much more manageable size, no localization cues if XO at ~80 Hz/ LR4 LPF.....

Thanks for the T-TQWT plans! ... thats an ineresting idea.
If I understand correctly, the enclosure would look like the picture below?

I need the subwoofer to play from < 20Hz to about 100Hz, where the L/C/R
mains are high passed at. I could probably high pass the mains at 90Hz and
get away with it also. The SPL response graph you posted looks nice and flat
across most of that frequency range ...except from about 85-100Hz.

Is there a reference picture somewhere that shows how to use the S1, S2 and
S3 values you posted to get the line lengths of L12, L23 and L34 for this box.
I just want get an idea of how big and tall this subwoofer would be?

Thanks 🙂
