Easy 15" LCD monitor!

I found another easy to dissasemble monitor!! Its a Cornea Systems Mp503 series. I thought this one was easier than the NEC's that everyone uses, because the monitor uses an external power supply so you dont have to worry about grounding or taking a PSU board out of the monitor itself, which makes taking the thing apart a breeze. It has easy disonnect ribbon cables for all the connections. I made a plexiglass mounting setup to keep everything on, and it is a lot smaller than it would be with the NEC, since all I need to keep in it is the controller card! Just a heads up if anyone needs an easy project! I got it for $180 on ebay! Runs great, 1024x768, good colours. Sorry I dont have pics, still didnt get my cam back 🙁 Later!

sure, ill post them later today or tomorrow, i need to hit my friend up for MY camera that he borrowed!!

And yes, all there is one controller board. All interfaces are wires from the controller. The VGA connector is a tiny plug that connects directly to the controller and then you can run the VGA cable where you want, so if you made an enclosure for this you could have the VGA cable coming out of the enclosure for extra length. There is another connector to the Board for the power and thats it, since the PSU is a separate unit that you just plug into the wall. Makes it a lot less messy when trying to build an enclosure, and less heat I assume, since there is no PSU that you have to have in the enclosure like the NEC's

Two monitors not to get.

Do not get these monitors unless you are like a master at sodering or somehting, lol. Both of them have the same problem. The two boards behind the displays are connected to each other with a ribbon cable that is too short to move them around.

Samsung Syncmaster 15" LCD (has the best picture in LCD I have seen) the ribbon is stappled down or somehting)

NEC 1555v also 15" (the ribbon is soldered )

Guys, is there any other monitors out there that you know we can use that have great contrast and response time that are still out for sale???

what about the good old viewsonic vg150? it was supposed to be the favoured by everybody or did i missed the post where it has been declared obsolete?
i got one myself and its ok, tho i still have to make my beamer work. i'm getting a bigger objektiv lense to fit the big light source in. so i don't know exactly how good this tft is after all. but it did well as a desktop tft so i hope i'll get some good results from it...

lil update.

Little update....

The "Samsung Syncmaster 152T" AND the "NEC 1555v" both have the "flat flex ribbon cable issue" that so many people are having trouble with and some are trying to extend them. I did not try it with either one. I sold the Samsung to a buddy and took the NEC back to the dealer.

Now good news. BigTinker (you all may know him) has posted a nice tibit on the "Samsung 150MP" and it only has "one" board and no ribbon cables attached to it (some other cord) and says it comes apart very easily and the board is not in the way🙂 Yeehaw!. I went out yesterday and bought one.. I will let you all know if it was easy for me and my friend as well just as soon as we get to it.

Bad news. The damn thing cost me 360-375 USD and that was AFTER the mail-in rebate (which I did not send in yet) of 80 dollars. So you are going to spend (at purchase time) around 465 dollars after taxes when you buy it (but then send in the rebate). One reason for the price tag is that it has a TV tuner, and S-video input (as well as RGB and a NTSC??? input) picture-picture and comes with a remote🙂 So those of you who want to watch movie, play PC games and play console games ... this is a good one to buy as I am sure it has great hardware (as opposed to some crappy converter) I will update when it is done. Might be able to post pics too.

Yes, I am finally done with my setup (for now, later I will place it in a nice box).

I used the Samsung 150MP 15"LCD monitor and ripped her apart. Only one card is attached to the LCD display (and one smaller card attached to that one card, like daisey chained) and it is toally out of the way. No need for cable extension or anythign at all, just "move it out of the way". Now this monitor lets you hook up anything that will use RGB (PC ofcourse) RCA (audio and video) S-video AND coax (sp? it's for cable). That all alone makes this a nice screen to use. Now I plugged my regular DVD player into it and it did not come out as nice as I would have liked. I then went out and bought a Sony DVD player for my PC and it made a big difference The brightness was still not what I was looking for UNTIL I found the settings on the DVD software that allowed me to change them there as well. MAN that made a huge difference I no longer will need to get a better light source. I am using a 360 watt ENX lamp that came standard with my 3M OHP (2200 lumens) and it is enough to watch even the darkest movies (Pitch Black, or even the cave sceens in LOTR came out fine) and my LCD never got a heat spot on it (but I bought a fan for it anyway just because). Now my screen (full size screen) is 7'x8' or something like that, and my letter box is the same length but the hight comes down a bit (letter box ofcourse) I am going to pull the projector all the way back until it fiils up as much as the wall as possible (without overlaping anything) in letter box mode (full screen mode already fills up the wall, but there is still room left on the sides) take some pics of some movies playing and then post them here. This setup works great and all my friends think it is bad *** I will try and take pics soon. Untilt hen, know that the Samsung 150MP is a good one to buy and it can be bought even at Best Buy right now cost me 495 USD after taxes (there is then a 50 dollar mail-in rebate) have fun.
