I visited an excellent winery in Burgundy a few years ago, following a rather curious set of negative reviews by a very well-known wine critic of questionable abilities. The chief winemaker was a very quiet, reserved fellow whose nickname was "The Accountant." Superbly talented, but difficult to draw out. However, when he spoke, the room would go silent. And he would speak VERY precisely.

The wines were, of course, superb. At some point, the conversation drifted to the recent negative reviews by the incompetent critic. The Accountant observed, quietly and slowly, "The problem with freedom of the press..." and here, his eyes started to flash in the only emotion he would show, "...is that people can publish any sort of nonsense that they wish."

Critics are by and large paracitic

They feed off of other's creativity. They are seldom creative themselves. They exist in a netherworld that demands a ear to listen. Few who listen have their brain in gear. They have ruined many a good man's career. Ray Hughes
