Thinking of changing drivers

I'm going to build a pair of HT subs. They are going to be powered by 600 watt plate amps (1 amp per enclosure). These are 2 things that I know for certain.

Right now I have 2 JBL 2241h drivers that were given to me
http://www.usspeaker.com/jbl 2241H-1.htm
After doing some quick math, I think that any box that i build for these will just be too damn big. 11 cubic feet. way too big.

I figure I can sell these for no less than 250 apiece, and these subs look to me like they'd be a good way to go

2ish cubic feet, xmax of 14mm,

so I suppose my question is this: would switching from the JBLs to the MAs be the reasonable choice here? or, would switching from the JBLs to a different driver be good, and what would you guys suggest I switch to. I dont want to spend more on new drivers than I can get for the old drivers, so i suppose that'd be the only criterion for the new drivers. that, and that i'd like them to be 12 or 15 inch, and have a small-ish Vas.

Don't use MA, overpriced POS...

Let me suggest you this one since you want a small box (130$) :

This one got less SQ but lower Fs and higher Xmax (160$) :

If you really want something in the ~250$ range, I suggest you this if you can wait a bit (150-175$ for the new motor assembly) :

And if you can't wait : (220$)

BTW, let me add that those JBLs you got are REALLY NICE drivers. More suited to PA for sure, but damn they will get loud. WAY louder >30 Hz than anything in this list or than the MA driver.

If you're only listening to music, those JBLs might fit the bill nicely.

Unfortunately I just dont have the space to build a box that will do the JBLs justice. You say ~250 for those AV12s, but they're listed on the site for 150 each. Am I missing something?

The arsenal 12s look nice as well, I guess i'm back to doing research eh?

I said in the ~250$ range, but yeah they are quite on the low side of the range hehehe!

They are listed at 175$ in the store now, on sale at 150$, but may climb to ~175-200$ with the new motor design.

I'd say call John or post on the forum to have more information about the availability.
