i clocked a meridain 500 and it play;s for less than two min then dies please help. could i have over heated a voltage reg when soldering the positive lead of the clock please help

Can you be a bit more specific about what you did to the poor thing? What did you modify? What was your clock source? What can you test?

If it works at all the reg is probably good. Is it getting too hot? Maybe you are drawing too much current for the heatsinking with your mod and going into thermal protection?

Just a shot in the dark with the info provided.

Why don't try to "restore" the CD? Does it work? Generally it's hard to "fry" components with a soldering iron especially the semiconductors.

Also an advice to all tweakers: Get schematics for the gear, be sure in what your are doing and also the probebilty to succeed. Secure the "restore" if it doesn't work! Don't throw away removed parts. If you want to sell the gear it's important to be able to restore it!!!

One guy in Sweden has tweaked his Sennhesiser Orpheus amp and he can't get it sold because of his tweaking. It's a collectors item and must be in it's original state. The amp costs 120 kSEK!!!! (1 USD = 9.40 SEK)
