Sorry mate but Richard Strauss' "Till Eulenspiegel" is written for a BIG symphony orchestra (at least 85 members).Therefore,the term "chamber music" has nothing to to with it...or I'm the Pope!:xeye:
Though,I agree with you about the exquisite quality of the LP version you talk about.:)
Back to the main question,there's a helluva lot of great chamber music recordings (chamber orchestras,string quartets,different woodwind ensembles,etc) on CD's.It's really hard to name "THE ONE" in few words,but you could try from Bach's Brandenburg Concertos (SMIF,Phillips) up to the more recent Erato productions.
However,avoid Deutsche Gramophon recordings...they suck.
