are banana plug binding posts conductive?

I know the inside is, to carry the signal, but I am wondering if the posts are insulated.

The reason I ask is because I want to instal the jacks in an aluminum enclosure, and I’m wondering if I am going to have problems if the entire post is conductive and not insulated.

Does that make sense?

Depends on the binding post. The ones i use for chassis mount usually have a plastic shoulder that fits into the hole in the chassis and the conductive part is isolated from the chassis -- this is probably typical).

Do you mean the jack that mounts to the enclosure into which you insert the plug?
