Not really - nominally heat sink the part, cascode it, then run feedback from the drain of the cascode device. Instead of going to all that trouble, though, I'd be tempted to use an SiC jfet or one of the larger Ixys depletion mode mosfets.
I thought the whole idea of the Shade feedback was to get triode like curves. And when used as Pass did in the F3 it's operated in this coveted triode regon.
