Hi,

what brand is this ?
And what dielectric ?

There is glass between leads and case.

I opened a small one, the foil is transparent with a green cast.

Hi,

But if this is polyester, why they put that crap in the hermetically seald case ?

It is polyester and they used the metal case for environmental protection.

O.K. Film and foil iso metalised than...

Mylar is also a kind of polyester film...I think that's a Dupont De Nemours brandname though...

SY?

Cheers,;)

Cap info

I see this might have come from a Tektronix scope
the ceramic boards are very valuable for audio for
guitar amp work. I'm not sure but they look like the
old CP0 spraque oil in paper vitamin Q type but this
is only a guess. You might want to let us know what
scope or Tektronix intrument this picture is from.

They were spare parts for I don't know what.

There are also .5075 and .05075 and .005075µF.

Maybe they are for some oszillator.

Which means tight tolerance.

Why cheap Polyester ?

I was happy to have some nice coupling caps :(

Also some that look similar are found as coupling caps behind the AC/DC switch of TEK plug-ins.

Isn't it important to have very good quality caps there ?

info...

Tektronix used 1st quality parts in there equipment
and it lasted. However, since the cheaper scopes
were being made overseas Tektronix started the 2200
and 2300 series scopes to compete with the cheaper
scopes made overseas and used less expensive parts
and the quality went down a little and these might be
from that series.
