Karlson aperture flare rates

sometimes it can be useful to employ a faster opening - I compared three sets of wings on the little 8 inch driver coupler below and for some drivers and rooms, the fast opening was nice. Even a very constricted opening on this coupler sounded good on opera. I've never used a flare like this on a larger coupler. This would be an area for experiments. K-builder Carl Neuser would typically test 3-5 sets of wing panels and a two-variable formula would be set for P=1/Q=1.7 for an aperture which would open a bit faster in its second half of travel then a radial arc. P=1, Q=3 would give a smaller total aperture area and slower flare.

this imo is a visually attractive curve and calculated with a different formula - perhaps it would be good for some small K-couplers

this was the tight aperture run on that K-coupler

a couple of little 8 inch K-couplers plus one or two 10 foot/20Hz tapped pipe subs using a $59 driver
could be pretty cool
