I checked pretty much everything around MPD recently. It falls short on many aspects in comparision to a Logitechmediaserver and squeezelight setup.
One of the main reasons that makes the LMS streaming environment the prefered choice is iPeng.
iPeng is IMO the best iOS based remote control out there. Obviously iPeng relies on the
the LMS database and data management. iPeng's MPD controller competitors look like toys in comparision.
Note: Unfortunatley there is no iPeng on Android. IMO All Android LMS controllers fall short on iPeng.
Coverarts are handled much better on a Logitechmediaserver and its remotes.
There is no need to have any Logitech device in the chain btw!!
The Community Squeeze OS project maintains and develops SW around an LMS environment and provides images for PC and Wandboard.
You'll get squeezelite images for Raspberry PI and other micro computers. Beside that you'll find binaries for all other platforms.
