Would removing the LEDs in my F4 or any FW amplifier yield better sound?

there is a proposal by tweak audio to do this among other tweaks and was wondering if anyone had experimented with this. maybe installing a small film cap across the led would make the same difference, thanks

A forward biased LED is probably quieter than any of the transistors or resistors in the circuit. The impedance is low enough that a film cap bypass does nothing other than cost money and take up space. There may be psychological benefits, but any electronic ones are dubious.

it will sound brighter , because every LED is stealing brightness* from amp!

*that's the reason why I'm always puttin' several LEDs in my projects - brightness setting mechanismus

Apropos of the subject, when I first made FW amps with the blue LEDs, I
ran them at a couple ma current and they were fairly bright. This resulted
in comments about the high frequencies which went away when I dimmed
them down. Similarly, red and green LEDs elicit different perception of the
sound in a number of customers.

I use orange leds, which, of course makes the ss gear sound tube like and blend with my tube gear.

Now, with a tube amp you simply must use original glass bodied LEDs.

The plastic cases of the semiconductors in SS amps are a better match for the plastic bodied LEDs.
