A cheap method that I used to apply was copy the circuit onto heat resistant transparancies with a laser pinter/copier and rub China ink onto the side to which the toner had adhered to. After the ink had dried (couple of minutes), I'd remove the excess by gently wiping with a damp cloth. That left the ink in between the toner particles to achieve really good blocking of the UV light used to transfer the circuit to the photosensitive layer on the pcb.

This looks like a nice method too. It seems like a little more work at first, but you can use pcb material without photosensitive layer and obviously the exposing and developing steps can be omitted.
I wonder if this yields the same or better results, esp. with underetching of narrow traces in mind.
