Electret Mic Power Circuit for PC Input

It seems this subject overlaps several forum categories, but the power circuit could be classified as a preamp.

I disected a cheap desktop mic and am befuddled as to what these diodes are there, and what they do. The cap is SMD and not electrolytic, and it appears the diodes are not zeners; they conduct with .5v drop using diode tester.

The mic works well. I recorded a guitar piece through the onboard sound card and it was surprisingly good.

Any light that could be shed on this would be greatly appreciated.
