G'day Fellow Choobers,
I have been restoring tube stereo's for a couple of years now (no expert), but I get by OK.
I started with my late Grandfathers HMV Little Nipper mantle radio (early 60's) and turned it into a guitar amp.
I then bought another with the intention of building a stereo of the 2 units. It worked OK as 2 monoblocks. T hat was about 4 years ago.
1 week ago I decided "it's time" to put it all on one chasis and overhaul the electronics. She's gonna get the "good stuff".
Waste of money ? Probably, but I was bitten and I love the old stuff so to me it's well worth it.
It may look a liitle messy with all the holes for the AM tuner but the way I see it is that I'll be able too dissapate the heat better. I might run a small fan in there as well. Runs very hot + rectifier tubes.
When finished it will all go back into Grandpa's old cabinet.
Trying to upload photo's !
Andrew.

1st shows 2 stripped working HMV's, that's where they sat for about 3yrs while I restored other stereo's etc..
2nd & 5th shows the job 1/2 done, R/Hand tranny is just sitting on chasis.
4th shows the original cabinet in the centre ( blue ).
3rd shows a proper HMV radiogram/phono stereo out of a largish console.( a later project )
Cheers,
Andrew.
