I have a Class A/B 4 channel amp that is begging to be re-purposed as a stereo active setup.
It has independent High & Low pass filters @18db that have overlap from 50-120hz.
They also have independent gain settings from the two channel pairs, this will help to gain match lower sensitivity woofers.

The problem arises in building a power supply that is sufficient to drive this monster.
The manufacturer specifies 800W peak.

Obviously a single rail PC ATX power supply would do the job but how would one just build a 12-14.4V Power supply for it?

Would a half bridge rectifier with MASSIVE smoothing capacitors do the job?
20VAC raw transformer voltage into a half bridge would net approx. 14.14VDC right?

Any thoughts?
