I tried a search and read threads but just want to be sure.

I'm assuming I would need the B version to handle the variable output of my prepro?

In other words, signal path is variable volume control from prepro>minidsp>power amps.

My amps have attentuators for maximizing gain structure.

The Minidsp units would be replacing a dcx2496.

Hello,

the new versions of the mini DSP are equipped with jumpers which make it possible to change the input sensitivity between 0,9 or 2 Vrns.

From their website:

Important Note: This board comes in two input sensitivity settings selectable from a single jumper change:

- 0.9Vrms mode: The perfect fit for PC sources, portable players or any source capable of lowering the signal to this level.

- 2Vrms mode: A better fit for any other source with high output levels and which you don't have volume control over.

Please consult the manufacturers specs of your equipment to understand which version you need.

Greetings Fabian
