hi guys
after a bit of help, im looking for a phono stage schematic (or board) with a modified RIAA curve (ie more bass) or adjustable turnover /rolloff found a schematic a while ago but just cant seem to track it down now..
i can assemble boards from diagrams but cant design anything
its just for playing standard RIAA records, just im not happy with the overall "sound" of every phono stage ive tried, so id like something adjustable, or something that deviates from the riaa curve

How about just using a tone control ( parametric equaliser or just multi band equaliser ? ) after the phono stage .
A good phono stage should sound good and not require any alterations to it's turn over frequencies if :
1. The phono preamp itself is good
2. The cartridge is good ( including the stylus !)
3. The tone arm is good
4. The turntable mat is good
5. The turntable itself is good
6. The turntable chassis is well isolated
7. The coupling RCA cable set is good
8. The power amp is good and
9. The speakers are good AND
10. A well cut vinyl album is used !
That gives you a whole range of areas to work on to improve what you hear.
A good phono stage should sound good and not require any alterations to it's turn over frequencies if :

Bass Booster
to be used to attach AFTER the phono RIAA.
You have a rotary switch ( use 4 postions of one 6 pole )
- Pos 5 = Flat +12dB gain, Green curve
- Pos 4 = High Bass boost, Red Curve
- Pos 3 = Low Bass boost, Purple curve
- Pos 2 = Flat 0dB, Blue curve

RIAA with bass boost
Her's a couple of links describing a really good RIAA pre-amp with a selectable slight boost of the bass. I use it myself since a few months and it makes all the difference in listening to vinyl! Unfortunately all the doc is ion swedish, since it was developed and published by LTS, the Swedish Sound Association.

It's C5 that you short circuit to gain a couple of dB more bass.
