Hi,
I have an old QSC a32 I might have posted about previously. I'm still looking for a sub for NE5530N. Or if anyone has one or two and can do paypal that would be even better.
This amp is good to go except for this one part! Anyone?
QSC has told me ne5532 would not work?

QSC just said that it was obsolete and wouldn't suggest any subs. I'm still learning to read and compare specs on ops,so I'm not sure about finding something suitable. If no harm would come in trying the above models I would be more then happy as I have most except the AD8066's mentioned. Which I am going to see how available they are.
Thanks for all the help!

I was replying to gold and others. QSC said 5530 was obsolete(and they are unless you order from the $300 minimum warehouses) and told me 5532's would not work. They did not make any suggestions as to what would, simply saying save yourself the hassle and buy a PLX.

I got this thing working 99% and all I need is one stinkin op. Besides matching pin outs there's not much I can tell from spec sheets. I'll try some of the above suggestions,I just don't want to ruin my work and short a channel or think everythings fine because the amp seems to be running and then have it fail later. Thanks again for any input!

So has anybody been able to find a datasheet for the 5530? There seem to be lots of them available, just not in small quantities or low minimum orders. The only summary I could find said it's a 3MHz dual with 150nA input current. In any normal app I wouldn't hesitate to sub it with any of the parts listed in the above post, but as part of a power amp, I'd be more cautious. A part with "better" specs might not be stable. Or it might work better than it ever worked before. You'd want to check for oscillations and such.

I just can't see how they can say 5532 won't work. It's unity gain stable and has good power capabilities. You have confirmed the 5530 is a dual device, so all that's left really is the pinout. Maybe they were being lazy/arrogant and just want a new sale.

The only other possibility is that 5530 is a transconductance amplifier. Unlikely though. I say drop a 5532 in and see what happens.

This is the unedited response cut and pasted from QSC's Thanh Nguyen who I also asked about what were the stock OT's and drivers.
"If it’s not in good condition, I suggest buying a new RMX850 instead of restoring this amplifier. QSC Technical Services no longer service the A-Series amplifiers since they were discontinued in the early 1980s.
Note that ECG130/219 were not QSC parts; Op-amp NE5532 would not work properly in A32 circuitry and NE5530 is obsolete."

Thanks Eddie for all the info! I'll let you guys know as soon as I get my hands on these and throw them in.

Javey: ... enough info to do it? ... How about this:

I own three QSC model 1400's, one of which I have gutted for the chassis and transformer and some hardware. All were working when they were removed from service as part of dance hall / house PA.

I intended to dispose of the other two 1400's, either to someone willing to pay shipping costs or into the dumpster ( :bawling: ).

Do you want one? ... ~39 pounds each / ~ US$32.00 for UPS to Michigan ... email me.

I agree at 100% :D

Surely the NE5530 can be replaced with the common amp-ops
There is perhaps need to replace some component.
When QSC AUDIO has abandoned the NE5530 It has modified the Schematics.
(To See QSC USA370
http://www.qscaudio.com/support/library/schems/Discontinued/USA Series/usa370.pdf
and QSC USA400
http://www.qscaudio.com/support/library/schems/Discontinued/USA Series/USA400.pdf
)

The following schematics (with NE5532) change :
Balancing Resistor R19-R20(A32) 22Ohms NF 1W
and increase R17-R18(A32) to 6.8 Ohms NF 1W

Also loop feedback of 2nd Amp-op is enough critical and
with the new high performances amp-op it can be oscillate.

High power amplifier with class AB quality but with a compact and
light switching power supply PC-style.. :smash:

I need to modify a PC-supply for +/-50 Vcc :wiz:

" ... High power amplifier with class AB quality but with a compact and light switching power supply PC-style ..."

Oh contrare' ... These old QSC 1400 have a plain vanilla "brute force" type 1400 VA power supply with a very heavy transformer (~25 pounds) and regular full wave rectifiers & large electrolytic caps = +/- 76 VDC per output power rail and +/- 15 VDC for the first stage, protection & mute circuits === definately NOT a switching supply ( http://www.qsc.com/support/library/schems/Discontinued/Series One/1400.pdf ) ...

OF special interest here: The QSC 1400 uses the afore mentioned NE5532 and the first amplification stage ... :xeye: ... and that's basically why I have junked one of the amps, saving the chassis & PS for a "better" amp board ( aussieamplifiers.com ... the NX500NL times two).

Also your english is quite passable ... no need to appologize for it at all. (Mine is not that great ... )
