Is it possible to think of SMPS for class A amplification? I have previously built a DIY version of the mighty Pass Labs Aleph 1.2 with a conventional PSU. However, I am thinking of building a Aleph 30 or Aleph X to keep my self busy. As I use a SMPS for my DAC with success I was thinking that this may be a good match for the Aleph 30.
Thanks for any insight.
BTW: Is it possible to get SMPS to deliver 60v out (for my preamp)?

It's been done in a commercial Class A / AB amp -- here
I have a pair, they have a little hum problem which can be worked around. The SMPS inside puts out 67v / 800VA Too hot for the climate I live in, and they consume alot of juice. I don't need 200wpc either, so I'm planning on gutting the amp and putting in a lower output and linear class A.
The company eventually discontinued them and changed back to linear.
