current sensing for high voltage supply

how can i sense the current of a high voltage line ?
transformer is not an option - dc ...

Hall effect sensor based, so it measures AC/DC/Whatever. Output is microcontroller friendly.

Couldn't you just insert a small sense resistor in series with the ground lead?

few amps @ 250V

i can use sense resistor , but not with the ground lead , only with the Vcc lead

i had decided to use a 0.01r/5w at +vcc at a cost of increase of ripple at mosfet positive rail of my h bridge.But i think the sense resistor is somewhat inductive.My pcb is ready but in the future i will try other elegant solution .
