Default Power supply requirement help

Hi all,

I'm building an amplifier design that delivers about 140watt with 55v rails. To do this I bought a 500w toroidal with 40v secondaries to power both of the channels.
This will be fine for 8ohm speakers but will it struggle with lower ohm speakers?
I also have 2 x 330watt with 35v secondaries. This will bring down the output power of the amp to about 125watts (which isn't a problem), but with a substantial increase in power supply output.
The amplifier will benefit slightly in quality by becoming monoblocks, but what sort of speaker load will it now safetly be able to handle? (sorry I am not aware of the power calculations to work this out), and do you really think it's worth going for the seperate toroidals considering the extra space they take up?

Many thanks,
Alex

Depending on the amplifier topology, I believe it will benefit from a more potent power supply. Into what extent I actually don't know. I don't know those calculations either

For what my guts have to tell me, Seperate toroids and monobloc setup will definitely improve performance.

Cheers,
Bakmeel
