It turns out that I tested one of that planar transformers from Premo, it was a model of around 520W if I remember well, designed for Half-bridge AC/DC and +/-48V output. The results were very frustrating for me.

The first difficulty was the required frequency of operation, around 200KHz. At that frequency, you need very fast switching, so mosfet must be driven with great care, edges are very sharp and EMI is likely to be a problem.
Besides that, you will need shottky diodes for rectification, that are very difficult to find with the required voltage and current ratings (150V at 10A or so).

Needless to say, the same circuit design with much more standard components worked at first attempt for me, and very efficiently, using a ETD44 core I wound myself

Not to talk about the cost... planar transformers are expeeensive.
