I'm going to build ultimate shunt regulator. I used TL431 so far, but I'd like to build something better. I will use low noise voltage reference source, lowpass filter, error amp and reg transistor. So, what do you think about this topology and do you have any suggestions for error opamp and for reg transistor?

Max input voltage, max output voltage, max current?

Rather low voltage and low max current- for supply DAC and solidstate gears:so max current probably 100mA.

"Rather low" how much is that?

Hi,
have a look at Wenzel's site http://www.wenzel.com/index.html Kaneda did one. I have a pdf of a discrete version from this forum, no reference unfortunately. Walt Jung did one in '69. There are bound to be others if you search. |

It looks geat
, nice current source, but it's too complicated I think, we can replace transistors error amp with fast opamp, because in my opinion implementation and PCB layout is one of the key to build fast and ultimate regulator,so do you recommend any type of opamp?
