FRED`s

I have done a test on a MOSFET amplifier. The amplifier had a standard diode bridge rectifier (35Aamp 400A surge 600v) so I replaced it with 4 of RURG8060 diodes. (80 Amp cont. 800A Surge! 600v 75ns). The result was the sound had a bit less "glare":- otherwise I now have a "bullet prof" bridge rectifier.:D)
The soft recovery of these diodes may have advantage when charging the large 20,000uf 100V capacitors.
The power transformer used in the amp is a 600VA toroid.
For the few extra dollars spent I see no disadvantage in using these.
By the way I did the same experiment on my tube DAC by upgrading the Ht diodes with STTH812D Diodes. The sound difference is similar to the amplifier, that the mid range had a bit less "glare".
Again for a few extra $ nothing is lost in having a set of 1,200V 8A 50ns diodes.
Any one else tried a A/B test ?
This is why we DIY !
Cheers!
