I just got a couple of 18V CT trannies from PE (129-086 $3.50/each). They have 3 wires on both the primary & secondary. I'm actually not sure which are which, too.

The one side has green-white-green & the other black, lt orange, dk orange.

Anyone give me a hint which is the real primary & what the 3rd wire is in the primary?

TIA,
Bret

Climbing the learning curve

Well, I've been reading (a dangerous activity, I know) and testing resistances. I have come up with the following conclusions 1) the green-white-green wires are the CT secondary, and 2) the primary appears to be tapped for either 110 or 100V (or just about thereabouts).

The second conclusion is based on the resistances & listed primary:
black to dark orange: 20.8 Ohm
black to light orange: 19.8 Ohm
light orange to dark orange: 1.8 Ohm

Luckily for me, ~10% difference in output V doesn't really matter. It is listed as 18V & I can use up to ~22V.

Does this make sense or am I pissin' into the wind?

TIA,
Bret
