in an article appearing in the late 1990's a fellow ham radio op used multilple Thaler voltage references (don't worry, you won't be able to find them) to reduce the noise, tempco effects and improve acuracy. The result was a DIY voltage measurement unit which was approaching the acuracy of high end HP, Keithley and Fluke equipment.
how would this affect the "noise" of the Super-Reg if one were to combine multiple references, RC filtering with an ultra-low noise error amp (like the AD797)? |

Just wondering but how much noise did this super reference produce really? A LM329/LM199 and LTZ1077(?) are all pretty good and a plain LM431 with the normal heavy LP-filter will also be rather low noise-ish.
ADR420 is pretty good also from Analog Devices. http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/showt...863#post639863

they have references with 1, 3 and 6uV LF noise -- of course you have to look at the tempco stats etc. . They are available in K and H grades.
