Hi,
I am a bit of a newbie as far as chokes are concerned.
An air cored choke does not saturate. Imagine the gap = ring of iron. Big disadvantage of air cored is very large size and high resistance = very high cost.
how about a large diameter cylindrical ferrite core to increase the inductance? gap = the part of the ring that is missing.
