Default filter circuit for 866a

can I use CLC filter behind the 866a?
if it is ok, what is the large value for the first capacitor in the CLC filter?

Yes. But I am not sure what is the largest value. I use 2uf.

thanks for your reply
if I use 2uf for the first capacitor,
can I get the DCV = 1.414 x ACV?

I think the answer is no, but I am not 100% sure. Why don't you download the free Duncans amp power designer and enter your paramenters.

I did that and was a vit surprised: If I simulate a 250mA/350V supply with a 30uF-8H-200uF behind it: I am still below the 1A peak current ! Does even lokk better than a gz34... anything I am not getting here ? I thought the 866a really likes only choke-input...?...with only 30ohms at the secondary !

If i apply the formular the formular found here https://www.die-wuestens.de/iz/RECT.pdf

...where they state Mercury rectifiers need at least Rt=V*K/Ip which in this case would be Rt=350*1,57/1...I would have to add a series resistance of more than 500 Ohm !!!

PSUD says something completely different...who is right ?
